OUR ORIGINS

Algaewheel® has been around for twenty years, and in that time has proven the versatility of its concept. Originally conceived as a means of removing algae from aquariums, the “ecowheel” was used at Nemo’s Nautilus in Disney World, Florida and at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.

In the years since,  the “backpack” (a fibreglass package system containing ecowheels) evolved to deliver local treatment for small scale applications of non sewered communities and commercial facilities.

Today, the Algaewheel owes its heritage to these pioneering solutions and algae’s unique properties.
